Envelopd turns budget categories into spendable cards. Each envelope has its own balance. The card you use at checkout decides which envelope pays, so spending is controlled before it happens.

Create your account
Sign in, finish identity setup when prompted, and land on your dashboard.

Create envelopes
Add the spending categories you want to control, such as groceries, gas, dining, and kids.

Connect your bank
Use Funding or Banking to link a bank account before moving money into envelopes.

Create cards and Top Up
Create the category card, add money to the envelope, then spend from that specific card.
Your first setup checklist
Section titled “Your first setup checklist”- Open Envelopd and sign in or create your account.
- If Envelopd asks for identity setup, finish that before creating cards or connecting a bank.
- Go to Envelopes and create at least three envelopes, such as Groceries, Gas, and Dining.
- Go to Funding or Banking and connect your bank account.
- Return to Envelopes, open an envelope, and create its card.
- Use Top Up to add money to that envelope.
- Review Transactions after spending and Insights for spending patterns.
- Use Settings for preferences, notifications, card appearance, and setup review.
- Use Family when household members need shared envelopes or member cards.
What each screen is for
Section titled “What each screen is for”- Dashboard: your spend-control home base and next recommended setup step.
- Envelopes: create categories, view balances, create cards, freeze cards, and top up.
- Funding: connect banks, review funding sources, run Top Up, and manage automation.
- Banking: finish identity setup, connect Plaid banks, and review banking/card readiness.
- Transactions: review card activity by category, date, merchant, and status.
- Insights: understand spending health once activity exists.
- Family: invite members, share envelopes, issue member cards, and review family activity.
- Settings: manage profile, preferences, notifications, appearance, and setup.
If you get blocked
Section titled “If you get blocked”- Identity setup required: go to Banking and finish the setup prompt.
- No bank connected: choose Connect Bank in Funding, Banking, or the envelope card prompt.
- No envelopes yet: go to Envelopes and create categories first.
- No card yet: open the envelope and choose Create Card after identity and bank setup are ready.
- Card declined: check envelope balance, card status, setup state, and family permissions.
